FlexiSpot BS12 Pro Chair Review

FlexiSpot BS12 Pro Chair Review

While FlexiSpot is best known for its sit-stand desks, the company also sells ergonomic chairs that aim to deliver a healthy sitting experience, particularly over longer periods. Whether you’re working from home for 8+ hours a day or you’re a hardcore gamer that is fragging for many hours at a time, it’s important that you have a chair that is both comfortable and supportive in all of the right ways. Does the FlexiSpot BS12 Pro deliver on that experience? Here is my review.

Build it then sit

The BS12 Pro is one of the easier chairs that I’ve built. You slot the seat and the back together, feet into the base, armrests on, and then the headrest is last. This is all held together with 11 bolts. There’s a helpful YouTube video on the official FlexiSpot channel that illustrates the build process, in case you get stuck with the written instructions.

When it’s built, the BS12 Pro looks fairly subtle with its all-black design. It looks smart and should blend in with all office and gaming setups without issue.

Easy tuning

FlexiSpot BS12 Pro Chair Review

There are three buttons found on the side of the chair. These control height adjustment, back tilt angle lock, and adjustments to the seat depth. It’s nice that these are easily visible and accessible, as other chairs often hide them and force you to get up off the chair to find them.

I’m a big fan of the adjustable lumbar support. As someone who regularly takes issue with chairs having either too low or too high a support, it’s nice to be able to fine-tune the height for each user.

Adjustable armrests are here, too, which are great for getting the perfect rest position, but also for moving out of the way if you’re resting your arms on a deeper desk instead.

Customize your comfort

FlexiSpot BS12 Pro Chair Review

The headrest isn’t my favorite. While I appreciate that users can move it up and down, which is especially useful for me as a taller person, it’s just not that comfortable to lean into. Happily, it can easily be removed if you also find that you’re not a fan.

The materials used for the surfaces of the chair are apparently made from Wintex Mesh produced in Korea. FlexiSpot describes this as “the ultimate breathable fabric material.” I’m inclined to agree that it is very breathable, as I’ve not experienced any discomfort during the many humid summer days spent working in this office during the chair’s testing period.

Final Verdict

At $550 (£429.99), the FlexiSpot BS12 Pro pitches itself as a more premium office chair solution. It also comes with a 5-year warranty for additional piece of mind. For that price, I was hoping to see more from this product, but it’s ultimately a safe choice that ticks the necessary boxes without pushing the envelope.

If you’re a fan of the subdued style and are willing to pay the price, the BS12 Pro is a solid option that delivers a comfortable and well-supported sitting experience with a number of great personalization options. I’d still probably wait for the inevitable sale price, though! (A sale is scheduled for August 28 – September 1, 2023.)
