In this post, I’m going to talk about deodorized garlic, what you should know about it and why you should probably stay away from it!
Here, I’m not talking about allicin compounds and supplements; I’m talking about deodorized garlic supplements, those that will advertise odorless garlic in their recipes and in their products!
What’s the problem with these?
It’s simply the fact that they concentrate a lot of allicin, and they tend to forget that garlic is not just about allicin, garlic is about a multitude of different other products, in fact, in garlic, there are thousands of compounds that have been studied, and in fact, there are probably many other thousands which haven’t yet been discovered and studied by scientists.
This is the problem with deodorized garlic in my opinion: it only contains allicin!
In reality, allicin is not efficiently absorb by our system, the more allicin you consume, the more your system is not going to absorb it, this is the problem with garlic supplements in general: they are not very efficient, and will never be as real/raw garlic!
I’m sorry to say this, but I do not recommend deodorized garlic consumption, it’s just concentrated allicin without the essence of garlic and the other sulfur compounds found in it.
So, what to do?
In my opinion, you should still consume some garlic supplements from time to time if you need to, for example, if you are suffering from terrible colds and flus, you may consume allicin rich supplements, however, do not substitute real garlic with pills, they will not work, and they will only cost you more!
In my home, I never give my children or my wife garlic pills, instead, I give them the real garlic, raw garlic, I crush and I minced it, then, I ask them to swallow it, which is the same thing I do here in this website, however, for me, it’s a different story, I take garlic pills once in a while, but only when I feel about to get sick, otherwise, I do not recommend garlic pills as they tend to be very heavy on the gastrointestinal system.
So, use garlic pills and deodorized garlic from time to time, but don’t rely on it to substitute real garlic, because it won’t.
