Is garlic good for pregnant women? Can pregnant women eat lots of garlic?
Well, the obvious answer is yes, garlic is not only good for pregnant women, but it’s also extremely beneficial for them, however, if you are pregnant, you need to be careful about what you are doing!
I’ve already talked about the health benefits of consuming garlic, and there is no denying of this, garlic is an amazing vegetable, it can benefit your cardiovascular system, cancer prevention, and even your mood, however, when it comes to using garlic while pregnant, I think you must be extremely cautious!
Garlic has two main side effects, and I need to warn you about them, and the thing you need to understand here is that when you consume lots of garlic, you are going to suffer from these effects:
- The first one is lowering your blood pressure!
Although this may seem like a very beneficial side effect, it’s not if you are pregnant! You need to understand that your body is going to increase your blood pressure in order to provide adequate blood irrigation for your organs and by eating lots of garlic on a daily basis, when you are pregnant, you are going to put yourself in lots of dangers and lots of issues because garlic is simply going to lower your blood pressure, which is terrible if you ask me!
So, no more than three garlic cloves a day, and please, cook them, they will be much more beneficial for you since they will not interfere with your blood pressure greatly because cooking is going to reduce the effect garlic has on your cardiovascular system.
- And the second side effect is thinning your blood.
A lot of women nowadays are going to require some surgical interventions when giving birth, this is completely normal, and here, I’m not just talking about C-sections, most women are going to lose some blood when they are giving birth and the truth is that many are going to lose a lot, which is normal, however, by consuming lots of garlic for a very long time, you are going to increase blood thinning effects and this can be life-threatening when it comes to pregnancy and other surgical operations as well!
So, in my opinion, you should never exceed three garlic cloves a day, and as mentioned before, try to cook them, so, they can be easily digested and they can also benefit your body healthy without harming you.
So, is garlic good for pregnant women? The answer is absolutely yes, however, don’t take a lot, and don’t abuse it, it can have the absolute opposite effects on your health and it can also harm your digestive and cardiovascular system greatly.
Please, if you have a question concerning garlic and pregnancy, don’t hesitate to ask me in the section below, I will be more than happy to answer you.
